Cumberland Presbyterian Children’s Home announces name change to Cumberland Youth and Family Services
Cumberland Presbyterian Children’s Home, a residential community for youth in foster care, young adults aging out of care, and resilient single-parent families announced that it has changed its name to Cumberland Youth and Family Services. The new name, logo and branding, are result of efforts to expand community awareness about the breadth and depth of the agency’s programs and services.
“At Cumberland, we believe innovation and creativity are required to serve our residents well,” said Cumberland Youth and Family Services President and CEO Courtney Banatoski. “Our new name and brand offer us a chance to more clearly demonstrate what we do and who we serve.”
The new logo includes a tree, a deeply symbolic icon of stability, support and growth that also has rich ties to our founding traditions, Banatoski said. “Now our visual identity and our name align with our work,” she said.
This is the agency’s 5th name change in its 117-year history, and its first since 1942. A video with additional details about the inspiration behind the new brand is available at http://cumberlandservices.org/about-overview
In 2021, the agency provided 19,463 days of care and 1,235 counseling sessions to 117 residents. Today the agency’s programs include:
· Emergency Services: Denton County’s only 24-hour awake care shelter serving children and youth ages 5-17 who are entering foster care
· Adolescent Services: a program serving teens in foster care, ages 11-18, who benefit from a consistent placement option focused on normalcy, life skills and permanency planning
· Treatment Services: a program offering therapeutic support and structure to teen girls in foster care who have history of emotional disorders
· GRIT—Gaining Responsibility and Independence to Thrive: a supervised independent living program for young adults, ages 18-22, who are aging out of foster care and transitioning into adulthood
· Family Residential Program: a comprehensive program, based on the Working Families Success Model, designed to help single-parent families move toward self-sufficiency
