Our Guiding Philosophy
At Cumberland Youth and Family Services, we work hard to provide care and services that improve the quality of life for youth in foster care, young adults aging out of foster care, and single-parent families. Each of our programs is designed to target the specific needs of our community, meet them where they are, and help them find ways to focus on growth and healing. Our programs use trauma-informed models. We’re proud to offer a wide range of programs on the same campus. We like that residents can move from one program to another as their needs change, without having to give up everything and everyone they come to know while they live with us. That stability and consistency can be a real game changer.

Intake Criteria
Cumberland Youth and Family Services, formerly Cumberland Presbyterian Children’s Home, accepts placement of children and youth who are in the care of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) and Our Community Our Kids (OCOK) and have been removed from their caregivers due to abuse and/or neglect. Information provided by DFPS or OCOK is evaluated by professional-level program staff to ensure our agency can reasonably meet the child’s physical, medical, mental health, recreational, educational, and emotional needs. Cumberland’s Children’s Residential Programs do not accept private placement.
